Unlike the USA, Australia commonly works with the European ISO paper sizing. This size has a ratio (length to width) of 1:1.414 which unlike US Letter size is much closer to The Golden Mean at 1: 1.618. The Golden Mean is also known as The Golden Ratio, this is a mathematical ratio based on nature, the ratio of things is commonly found in nature, and when used in design, it fosters organic and natural looking compositions that are aesthetically pleasing to the eye, which is why the ISO series of paper sizes is a simpler and more pleasing size to work with.
As you can see by the image of sizes below, the press sheets are cut from parent sheets in the most economical way with minimal waste, which is another way to reduce our impact on the environment, all our waste paper is recycled
